    I also love these examples. We work with many of these companies who use our software (Radian6) to help with online listening and to help manage & coordinate their engagement. One of the things I like about what Chris Brogan points out in his post is the idea of not just listening for your brand (i.e. the hotels example) but beyond it to include things your brand can help with (like people talking about going to the red sox game).

    I call this listening for the point of need. When a customer expressed a point of need (i.e. going to a Sox game, where should I stay?), then the marketer has an invitation to respond.
